As part of their circular economy strategy, LyondellBasell announced in 2022 a new Circular and Low Carbon Solutions business to deliver on its ambition to produce and market at least 2 Mt of recycled and renewable-based polymers annually by 2030.
This would represent approximately 20% of its global PE and PP sales in 2022. The company developed the first commercial scale, single-train advanced recycling plant using LyondellBasell’s proprietary technology based in Germany. Additionally, it produced and marketed 175 Kt of recycled and renewable-based polymers since 2019 and is growing its mechanical recycling and sorting footprint globally with partners to increase and secure access to feedstock.
