INEOS Styrolution and nora® by Interface partner to support carbon neutrality goals

Nora by Interface

In the Spring of 2021, INEOS launched a new line of styrenics solutions – Styrolux® ECO and Styroflex® ECO – made with renewable raw materials. Styrenics are a type of versatile lightweight plastic and are used in a whole range of applications from yoghurt pots and cream jars to coffee machines and car bumpers.

Introducing Bio-Attribution

The new styrenics solutions use fewer fossil resources and have a 74% lower greenhouse gas footprint when compared to styrene produced by fossil fuel. To support the launch, INEOS introduced the concept of bio-attribution. Bio-attributed styrene contains materials that are obtained from a mix of renewable and fossil feedstock during production.

Sustainable Material Choice for Rubber Flooring

nora® floor coverings are made of high-quality natural and industrial rubbers. They are mixed with minerals from natural sources and other components, such as environmentally compatible color pigments, pulled into blanks, pressed and then vulcanized under heat and high pressure.

In order to support the company’s ambitions to lower the carbon footprint of its products and reach carbon neutrality by 2040, nora®  selected Styroflex® ECO 2G66 B60 – for sustainable flooring solutions. SBC is a synthetic rubber used in thermoforming, injection molding and extrusion applications. The INEOS product is bio-attributed and retains the quality and functionality required for rubber flooring.
