SYNESQO

SYNESQO recently teamed up with French start-up Ostium to enable the mechanical recycling of single-use surgical instruments manufactured in its specialty polymers portfolio.

This collaboration is pioneering the recycling and upcycling of valuable polymers from used healthcare devices. Solvay has proven it is possible to recycle and upcycle the polymer material and is now developing a way to ensure consistently high recycling standards, which involves controlling every step in the life cycle of its materials. The recycled product could be used in high-end markets such as automotive, and sports and leisure equipment, thus integrating end-of-life surgical instruments into an open loop circular ecosystem.
