Major Step Towards Zero Plastic Pollution Future. Plastics Europe Welcomes Global Plastics Agreement
Plastics Europe supports the development of a global agreement to address the challenge of plastic waste, and welcomes the resolution negotiated at the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) in Nairobi. The resolution calls for a legally-binding instrument with binding and voluntary provisions that will be defined by the INC (International Negotiating Committee).
PolyREC® launches RecoTrace™, the multi-polymer data collection system to record European recycled plastic data
PolyREC®, the association that monitors, verifies and reports on European recycled plastics, is now recognised as an official data collector for the Circular Plastics Alliance (CPA). Thanks to RecoTrace™ data PolyREC® will report on the progress of the entire European plastics value chain towards the CPA target of 10 Mt recycled plastics use by 2025.

Future of Plastics Packaging Explored in Two BPF Seminars
The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is hosting two half-day online seminars on plastics packaging in October. ‘What Next for Plastics Packaging?’, taking place 18 October, will explore legislative changes and innovations for rigid packaging. ‘The Future of Flexible Packaging’, taking place 19 October, will examine new developments in flexible packaging. Both these events are sponsored by Plastics Europe.
PCEP, SCS and EUMEPS join cross-polymer initiative POLYREC® to monitor, verify and report on Europe’s recycled plastic flows
The non-profit association PolyREC announced today that the value chain initiatives Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform (PCEP), Styrenics Circular Solutions (SCS) and European Manufacturers of Expanded Polystyrene (EUMEPS) have joined members Petcore Europe, PlasticsEurope, Plastics Recyclers Europe, and VinylPlus to support the setup of a harmonised, pan-European data collection system for both, plastics recyclers and converters, to record their recycling volumes and use of recycled material.
European plastics manufacturers plan 7.2 billion euros of investment in chemical recycling
PlasticsEurope announces a significant increase in planned chemical recycling investment: from 2.6 billion Euros in 2025 to 7.2 billion Euros in 2030. To further accelerate investments in this key technology and the transition towards a circular economy, PlasticsEurope calls for a harmonised and strong policy and regulatory framework.
