Fossil-equivalent quality

« Back to Glossary Index

An adjective describing the quality of a material which has not undergone processes resulting in changes of chain length or non-traceable addition of additives. The term is e.g., differentiating plastics directly derived from polymerisation to mechanically/physically recycled plastics based on technical criteria such as chain length, colours, or food grade approval.

Note: The term “virgin-quality” or “virgin-like” is used equivalently.
