The Bornewables\u2122 are manufactured with second-generation renewable feedstock derived solely from waste and residue streams, for example, from vegetable oil production; the paper and pulp industry; or used cooking oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From traceability to the circular economy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These waste and residue streams are traceable back to their point of origin, following the ISCC PLUS chain of custody. The Bornewables\u2122 are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iscc-system.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ISCC PLUS<\/a> certified with a reduced carbon footprint, enabling Borealis\u2019 customers to meet their sustainability targets while maintaining existing quality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur Bornewables\u2122 portfolio represents a key step in our efforts to offer products decoupled from fossil-based feedstock, with the aim of providing a solution to the climate challenge by supporting for instance the EU Green Deal. We are accelerating immediate action on circularity and lowering CO2 footprints in line with our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.borealiseverminds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EverMinds\u2122<\/a>&nbsp;mindset.\u201d says Robin Bresser, Marketing Manager Infrastructure at Borealis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/plasticseurope.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/bornewables-fullscreen_2022-02-02-125130_rabv.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6634\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A move away from fossil-based feedstocks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of Bornewables\u2122 provides a reduced carbon footprint to the end-product compared to conventional plastics, and contributes to the circular economy by helping to decouple plastics from the use of fossil-basedfeedstocks. This is already proving beneficial to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uponorgroup.com\/en-en\/collaboration-with-borealis-to-launch-our-first-product-utilising-renewable-raw-material\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Uponor Infra<\/a> has seen the creation of a new gravity plastic pipe using renewable raw materials that demonstrates a CO2 footprint reduction of up to 70%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Borealis are also working in cooperation with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jokey.com\/en\/news-und-presse\/presse\/details\/jokey-intensifies-cooperation-with-borealis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jokey Group<\/a> to jointly accelerate action on circularity in packaging solutions through the use of the Bornewables\u2122.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the production of the Bornewables\u2122, sustainably sourced renewable feedstock reduces reliance on fossil-based feedstock by at least 73%. And analysis shows that even in the case of energy recovery when the carbon stored in the product is released during incineration, the carbon footprint reduction still amounts to a 44% reduction compared to polypropylene (PP) from fossil-based feedstock, and a 42% decrease compared to polyethylene (PE) from fossil-based feedstock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-large\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure id=\"embed-block_422a9400bdd9d250a743574f058b99e0\" class=\"pe-video-embed\">\n  <div class=\"embed-container\">\n    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Introducing our Bornewables\u2122 portfolio of circular solutions\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LqNJJVAhz4A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
