De Europese plasticproductie daalt veel sneller dan verwacht. En dat is slecht nieuws voor de Europese circulaire ambities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dit nieuws naar aanleiding van de cijfers van Plastics Europe maakte headlines in alle belangrijke Europese media. Ook in Nederland, waar het omvallen van de \u00e9\u00e9n na de andere recycler ook al veel aandacht trekt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tegelijk stond de VN plastictop in Zuid-Korea op het punt van beginnen, die zoals we nu weten is mislukt. De Volkskrant noemde het in haar commentaar \u2018de olifant in de kamer\u2019, de almaar groeiende plasticproductie, waar \u201cniet tegenop valt te recyclen\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allemaal geen reden voor een feestje, zou je zeggen. Maar toch was de stemming bij de eerste Plastic Transitie talkshow op 25 november beslist hoopvol. Het was goed te zien dat de hele keten van plastic was vertegenwoordigd en deze eerste verjaardag van onze routekaart bescheiden met ons mee vierden. De inhoudelijke bijdragen en het debat illustreerden nog maar eens dat er inmiddels breed draagvlak ontstaat voor een radicaal andere aanpak. Een aanpak waarbij we in gezamenlijkheid, met overheid en politiek, tot een concrete actie agenda voor circulair plastic komen.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

De olifant in de kamer is kortom niet meer te vermijden. Op naar een nieuw jaar waarin we hopelijk verder stappen voorwaarts zetten in het ontleden van het hele beest. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

De olifant in de kamer is niet meer te vermijden. Op naar een nieuw jaar waarin we hopelijk verder stappen voorwaarts zetten in het ontleden van het hele beest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
