De IAA benoemt plastics als een strategische sector voor Europa.\u00a0Dat\u00a0is een belangrijke stap richting een\u00a0weer\u00a0concurrerend en investeringsvriendelijk klimaat voor het Europese\u202fplastic\u202fecosysteem.\u00a0Het is ook\u00a0een harde voorwaarde om onze transitie naar circulariteit en lagere CO\u2082-uitstoot weer op\u00a0de rails te krijgen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De voorgestelde maatregelen voor snellere vergunningverlening en industri\u00eble versnellingsgebieden zijn positief. Juist waar productie kan clusteren en waar toegang tot infrastructuur en energie eenvoudiger wordt, kan versnelling echt plaatsvinden. Wij roepen de medewetgevers op om dit samen met de industrie concreet te maken, zodat projecten snel van papier naar praktijk gaan. Snelheid en voorspelbaarheid zijn cruciaal als Europa zijn resterende industri\u00eble basis wil behouden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plasticproducenten staan klaar om bij te dragen aan het waarmaken van de eis van 70% Unie-oorsprong voor elektrische voertuigen, waarin plastics een belangrijk onderdeel zijn. Tegelijk is bredere steun nodig om \u2018lead markets\u2019 voor plastics te cre\u00ebren, om zo investeringen in circulaire en CO\u2082-arme plasticsproductie los te trekken en bij te dragen aan een veerkrachtig en minder afhankelijk Europa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plastics Europe zet zich in om met beleidsmakers en ketenpartners te werken aan het versterken van de IAA. Als lid van de stuurgroep van de Critical Chemicals Alliance zetten we ons er bijvoorbeeld voor in dat de IAA ook echt aansluit op de urgente concurrentiekrachtbehoefte van Europa\u2019s plasticsindustrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
