Wandel der Kunststoffindustrie: Anteil fossiler Rohstoffe in Kunststoffproduktion r\u00fcckl\u00e4ufig<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Frankfurt am Main, 19.10.2023<\/strong> \u2013 Plastics Europe, der Verband der europ\u00e4ischen Kunststoffhersteller, ver\u00f6ffentlicht im Report \u201ePlastics the Facts 2023<\/a><\/strong>\u201c aktuelle Zahlen zur globalen Kunststoffproduktion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Die globale Nachfrage nach Kunststoffen steigt weiter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Im Jahr 2022 wurden weltweit 400,3 Mio. Tonnen Kunststoff produziert, was einem Anstieg von 2,5 Prozent gegen\u00fcber dem Vorjahr entspricht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weniger Fossile, mehr Nachhaltigkeit: Anteil zirkul\u00e4rer Kunststoffe nimmt zu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Der Anteil von zirkul\u00e4ren Kunststoffen, die aus biobasierten und recycelten Rohstoffen hergestellt werden, erreicht 2022, mit einer globalen Produktionsmenge von 37,8 Mio. Tonnen, einen neuen Rekordwert. Ingemar B\u00fchler<\/a>, Hauptgesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrer von Plastics Europe Deutschland<\/a>, kommentiert diesen Erfolg: \u201eEs ist deutlich erkennbar, dass die Transformation zur Kreislaufwirtschaft mit Kunststoffen voranschreitet, trotz sehr schwerer Marktbedingungen. Um Wirtschaftswachstum und Klimaschutz miteinander in Einklang zu bringen und auf unserem Pfad voranzuschreiten, brauchen wir in Deutschland und Europa politische Weichenstellungen und Investitionsanreize. Das gilt bei der nationalen Kreislaufwirtschaftsstrategie, der EU-Verpackungsverordnung, der \u00d6kodesignrichtlinie und auch beim UN-Meeresschutzabkommen.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bettina Dempewolf<\/a>, Leiterin der Kommunikation, bei Plastics Europe Deutschland, erg\u00e4nzt: \u201eWir kommunizieren in aller Deutlichkeit, dass wir uns als Industrie auf den Weg gemacht haben und die Transformation zur fossilfreien Kreislaufwirtschaft mit Kunststoffen ernst meinen. Im Klartext: Das Wachstum bei zirkul\u00e4ren Kunststoffen \u00fcbertrifft das der fossilen um das 16-fache. Nahezu 10% der weltweiten Kunststoffproduktion basiert mittlerweile auf zirkul\u00e4ren Rohstoffen. In Europa ist der Anteil von zirkul\u00e4ren Kunststoffen in der Kunststoffproduktion sogar doppelt so hoch, bei 19,5 Prozent.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wachsender Wettbewerbsdruck f\u00fcr europ\u00e4ische Kunststoffhersteller<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Die europ\u00e4ische Kunststoffindustrie ist Spitzenreiter bei der Entwicklung zirkul\u00e4rer Kunststofftechnologien, beispielsweise beim chemischen Recycling<\/a>, doch sie l\u00e4uft Gefahr, im globalen Wettbewerb den Anschluss zu verlieren. Innerhalb eines Jahrzehnts verringerte sich ihr Anteil an der weltweiten Kunststoffproduktion von 28 % im Jahr 2002 auf 14 % im Jahr 2022. Diese Entwicklung ist gr\u00f6\u00dftenteils auf hohe Energiepreise, hohe Regulationen und der begrenzte Zugang zu Rohstoffen zur\u00fcckzuf\u00fchren. Langfristig k\u00f6nnte dies allerdings dazu f\u00fchren, dass die Abh\u00e4ngigkeit von Importen steigt und die M\u00f6glichkeiten europ\u00e4ischer Unternehmen eingeschr\u00e4nkt werden, in Nachhaltigkeit zu investieren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investitionen in Nachhaltigkeit brauchen R\u00fcckendeckung der Politik<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

„Wir sind auf einem vielversprechenden Weg zur klimaneutralen Kreislaufwirtschaft, doch ohne politische Unterst\u00fctzung in Form von Anreizen und Investitionsprogrammen kommen wir unter den gegebenen Wettbewerbsbedingungen noch zu langsam voran\u201c, so Ingemar B\u00fchler. \u201eDie Bundesregierung muss jetzt gezielt Ma\u00dfnahmen ergreifen, um Investitionen in umweltfreundliche Technologien zu erm\u00f6glichen und den Einsatz von zirkul\u00e4ren Kunststoffen zu f\u00f6rdern. Dabei gibt es keine Zeit zu verlieren, denn die wegweisenden Investitionsentscheidungen werden jetzt getroffen. Ich m\u00f6chte die Dringlichkeit der Lage daher noch einmal hervorheben. Ob wir die europ\u00e4ischen Klima- und Kreislaufwirtschaftsziele, bis 2050, erreichen k\u00f6nnen, wird sich noch in dieser Legislaturperiode entscheiden.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n
