On October 13, twelve start-ups will present their solutions at K 2025 \u2013 the world\u2019s leading plastics trade fair in D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany, and showcasing innovations to reduce the industry\u2019s dependence on oil and gas. The competition sought ideas that close plastic loops, reduce emissions, and replace fossil resources in production processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStart-ups provide crucial impulses for the future of our industry,\u201d says Dr. Christine Bunte, Managing Director of Plastics Europe Germany. \u201cThe finalists show how the plastics sector can operate with fewer fossil resources and what kinds of solutions are needed to transform production processes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-small\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The start-ups compete against each other in two categories. In the morning, young start-ups will present their ideas on the Newcomer Stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/aestechnik.de\/\"><strong>AES<\/strong><\/a> develops modular, scalable chemical recycling units that convert plastic waste into reusable oil right where it\u2019s generated, eliminating the need for long-distance transportation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coiss.at\/\"><strong>coiss<\/strong><\/a> produces smart plug-and-play sensors to digitally retrofit existing machinery, helping to reduce downtime and cut energy consumption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moldsonics.com\/\"><strong>Moldsonics<\/strong><\/a> offers ultrasonic sensors that make plastic machines more precise while reducing waste, energy, and material consumption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/osphim.com\/\"><strong>Osphim<\/strong><\/a> develops AI-powered software for plastics converters, helping manufacturers integrate more recyclates and lower energy consumption, even in complex applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/radicaldot.com\/\"><strong>Radicaldot<\/strong><\/a> enables energy-efficient chemical recycling to produce basic chemicals from plastic waste that partially replace fossil raw materials in plastics production.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.s1seven.com\/\"><strong>s1seven<\/strong><\/a> offers solutions for digital material passports that provide transparency on the origin, composition, and carbon footprint of plastics, enabling high-quality recycling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-small\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, the stage belongs to the &#8218;Big Fish&#8216;, start-ups that have already brought their ideas to market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.carbon-minds.com\/\"><strong>Carbon Minds<\/strong><\/a> provides data-driven insights into emissions from plastic production, helping companies reduce their environmental footprint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eco2grow.com\/\"><strong>ECO2GROW<\/strong><\/a> enables small and medium-sized enterprises to purchase affordable green electricity at fixed rates, directly from producers, just like major customers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrocycle.tech\/\"><strong>MacroCycle<\/strong><\/a> operates energy-efficient chemical recycling facilities that enable infinite PET recycling without any degradation in quality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paquesbiomaterials.nl\/\"><strong>Paques Biomaterials<\/strong><\/a> produces biodegradable plastics from various organic waste streams to replace fossil raw materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/polymerize.io\/\"><strong>Polymerize<\/strong><\/a> uses an AI-powered platform to speed up research and development in materials science and improves outcomes in plastic product design and performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sykell.com\/\"><strong>sykell<\/strong><\/a> develops ERP software to supports circular business models by enabling the efficient return and reuse of packaging and materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-small\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe finalists of the start-up competition represent every stage of the value chain, from plastics production, converting to machinery and recycling,\u201d explains Thomas Franken, Director of the K Trade Fair and co-organizer of the pitch. \u201cAnd that\u2019s exactly what we need.
